Fall in Utah

November brings cooler temps, the fading of fall colors and the mayhem of the holidays. I love all of it.

Across the country, we saw record highs for voter turnout at midterm elections and I am thrilled! As mail-in ballots continue to be counted, Utahns are still waiting for results on some candidates and issues, but the level of participation and engagement was outstanding and my political heart is happy.

Last week on the Bee we talked about:

Why I fiercely don’t want my children to be my political clones

The important mindset required for us to truly listen to others, especially those with whom we disagree

How a simple selfie offers more credibility than a glamour shot

When feminism doesn’t make room for all women, it isn’t feminism

Keep an eye out for a new series on the Bee this week. On Tuesday, we’re looking forward to the first of five articles on the history of child brides in the early LDS Church and the practice of sealing young girls to much older men.

Enjoy your week. And thanks for being a part of the Utah Bee community,
